  I love to bake (it’s quite similar to doing a science experiment), so maybe a baker! Imagine all the tasty things to eat!

  I would love to be a contemporary dancer in the Netherlands or dance with New York City Ballet. That would be my dream alternative career. I really love the physicality of dance but also that it tells a story, without needing language. It’s amazing that we can tell stories and express emotions with our bodies!

  I thought of becoming an engineer, working with biotech systems or building satellites. The latter was because I though becoming an astronaut wasn’t realistic so I wanted to build stuff that goes into space instead.

  Technically speaking, I am not a scientist, I’m an Engineer. But if I wasn’t, I would love to be a pilot.

  Hi Orla, If I wasn’t a scientist I would love to be a zoo keeper! I absolutely love animals so it would be amazing to be working with giraffes, elephants, monkeys, rhinos, hippos and lions everyday.

  Hmm, that’s a tricky one. I like all sorts of things so I think I could easily have ended up doing something else. I like like logic and order so thought about being an accountant for a while. But I also like working with my hands and taking care of animals, so a job at a stables would be amazing.

  I would like to teach Pilates! It’s a lot of fun because there are lots of different types and it’s much different to other forms of exercise. It can be relaxing with nice quiet music or like a dance routine with loud music.

  I loved Steve Irwin when I was younger, so for awhile I wanted to wrangle crocodiles too… but after reconsidering the possibility of losing an arm, I instead wanted to become the next best thing… (in my mind) A veterinarian for exotic animals!
  
  So, if chemistry hadn’t enticed me, I’d probably had pursued veterinary.
