21 Days per year. Yes, it is more than enough, if you love your work 🙂

I’m a scientist within a University (I’m a lecturer), and it’s quite flexible (hope my boss doesn’t see this!). In my contract, I have 31 days leave, but some are automatically given to Christmas etc. During term, I can’t really take any days off, but during the summer, I can take a good long holiday and work from home if I want- which, I never want to do again after this! 😛

21 work days can be taken off, but we also get Christmas and bank holiday days off too! Unfortunately we do not get 2 weeks off at Easter! =(

I get 25 days off which is amazing! That’s more than enough time for holidays, taking a long weekend or taking a day off to be with my puppy 🙂

Its a bit different for me as I am a PhD student, so it is a little more flexible! I would say it would roughly be about 21 days! My supervisor is really nice and usually gives me any days off that I ask for!

I get 25 days off! I consider myself very lucky as I can go home and visit my family for 2 or 3 weeks a year 🙂 My brother is working in Colombia and he only gets 12 days off… and only after his first year of employment!

5 weeks, and we have an option to extend to 6. It’s great to disconnect 🙂

21 days as per Irish employment regulations but as some others said, when you work in a university it can be quite flexible depending on your supervisor. With experimental work, there is an awful lot of writing up to do so if you’re better placed doing that at home with no distractions from colleagues then its fair to work from home too but again it depends!

I get 20 days that I can choose myself (of course weekends don’t count so 20 days is 4 weeks :))
Then because I am working in a university I also get ‘free’ holidays over Christmas and Easter when the buildings are closed. So over Christmas I get about 10 days for free and over Easter I get Good Friday and Easter Monday off, so an extra 2!
Having good holidays is important because even if you love your job you still need a break every now and again!!

I think it’s 25 days holidays I have officially but when you count weekends and bank holidays too the working year is around 240 days per year

For my Ph.D., we can take as many holidays as we want in a year. Since we are still students, there is no restrictions on the number of holidays we need to take.
However I am very careful with this and ensure I don’t take more than 3 weeks’ holiday in a year (during which I go back home to India). This is a freedom that I take seriously, as I am the only one affected by taking too many holidays in a year.

Officially 20 days, but we get extra days at Easter and Christmas when the university is closed on top of this which are called ‘privilege days’. However, you really don’t mind working when you love what you do!
